Fukui Prefecture is a region rich in natural beauty. The Tsushima currents from the Sea of Japan coast influences all areas in this region except those with heavy snowfall and long winters. Even winters here are relatively warm with rainfall being more common than snowfall.

Fukui Prefecture accounts for more than 90% of spectacles/eye glasses produced in Japan.

It is also famous for Echizen crabs.

Most dinosaur fossils in Japan are found in Katsuyama City, Fukui Prefecture.

Tourist attractions include Myotsuji Temple and Eiheiji Temple which are considered as national treasures. The Tojinbo cliffs are also a must visit.
