Tochigi Prefecture is located in the northern Kanto region. It is an inland province and does not have a coastline.
The area is famous for hot spring villages such as Kinugawa, Yumoto, Nasu and Shiobara owing to the presence of the Nikkou volcano. The Toshogu and Rinnoji shrines, which are part of the Nikkou UNESCO World Heritage Site, are also found here.
It has a rich and beautiful natural environment. Lake Chuzenji and Senjogahara plateau are beautiful examples of Tochigi’s natural environment. These areas are part of the Nikko National Park. Measures have been taken to conserve such areas of Tochigi.
