Tottori Prefecture is famous for its sand dunes. This is the closest thing to a desert in Japan. Although it feels more like a humongous beach. You can even get a camel ride (in Japan of all places)! Tottori Prefecture is the most sparsely populated prefecture in Japan. Tottori specialties include the “20th century pear”, shallots and the “Matsuba” crab. Visit Tottori, one of Japan’s more unusual places!
